The Armed Forces Thanksgiving is proud to announce the Hometown Heroes Banner Program; a living tribute created for the community to recognize and honor our Grand Rapids military men and women who are serving or have served our country in the United States Armed Forces. Through this program, banners featuring names and photos of honorees will be proudly displayed on light posts in downtown Grand Rapids in the months May (Military Appreciation Month) as a public show of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.​

Program Details:

• Application Deadline: March 31, 2026

• Banner Fee: $300

• Required Documents:

  • Digital image of the honoree in official uniform

  • Completed Application Form (See Attached)

• The Banner will be 24” x 48”, 18oz., heavy vinyl, printed on both sides, and will display the service person’s photograph, include their full name and branch of the Military

• Banners will be displayed each May in observance of Military Appreciation Month.

• Banners will be removed and stored until the same period in the following year at which time they will be redisplayed.
